Frequently
asked
questions:

How long are pledges to the campaign payable?
Pledges to the campaign are made over a multiyear period. We generally request a five-year period, but you can do it in a shorter period of time and that’s welcome because it helps with cash flow and accelerates the project start date. However, we need each brother to make the very best-stretch pledge possible over whatever period they use. This is our chance to position Delta Tau Delta as a premier house at LSU in this early moment of recolonization.

What does my donation entitle me to?
This new house will be home to DTD for generations to come. Now is your opportunity to cement your legacy as a proud Delt and leave your mark on the chapter. Depending on tier, there will be many options for room naming and preference will be given based on the amount of donation.

Is my donation tax deductible?

The Four Pillars Education Foundation of LA., Inc. has been established to raise the funds and own the new Shelter. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We encourage donors to consult with their tax advisors regarding the specific treatment of charitable contributions under current tax regulations. Official donation acknowledgment letters for tax purposes will be issued in early 2026 for all contributions received during the 2025 tax year, in accordance with IRS requirements.

How much have we raised so far?
We have the design portion of the construction process funded.

What is our fundraising goal?
Approximately $14M. That may be too high but we want to have firm construction pricing until year end. We also need to get estimates for the elements of the project that we are responsible for outside of the construction costs, such as ff&e, security system etc.

How much of the ~$14M are we financing?
Ideally, we won’t have any financing, but we do plan to arrange back stop financing. Interest expense will cause the foundation to be liable for some income tax even though it is a 501(c)(3).

Are we encouraging specific donation amounts, or is it a “no donation is too small” kind of thing?
No donation is too small. We structured the foundation to maximize tax benefits for donors of all giving levels, specifically to encourage broad participation. Our goal is to cast a wide net.

Are there incentives for donating certain levels
(example: a brick for $5,000, a room for $20,000, etc.)?

We’re planning on naming rights and other recognition.

Are we structuring fundraising goals over the course of several years?
Likely that will need to be the case but we need a lot of cash up front. LSU can require us to show that we have funding (cash, pledges, guarantees and bank financing) before we can break ground.

Can i make a pledge for a future donation?
Yes, we encourage pledge commitments that can be fulfilled over time. This approach allows
us to demonstrate strong future support to potential donors, showing that sustained funding is already lined up for multiple years. Pledges are an important part of our fundraising strategy, as The Foundation has ongoing fundraising requirements as a 501(c)(3) organization. While other fraternities often meet these requirements through chapter fundraising events, alumni donations and pledges also satisfy these requirements and are crucial to our success.
